Drs Linda Evans and Matt Homer win a second grant from the Leadership Foundation

27 January 2012 |

Dr Linda Evans, reader in the School of Education, and Dr Matt Homer, research fellow and statistician, have secured funding of £10,000 for a study of university professors’ attitudes to their roles: Professorial academic leadership in turbulent times: the professoriate's perspective. The one-year project is funded by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education under their small projects initiative and will be carried out with Dr Justine Mercer from Warwick University. This is Linda and Matt’s second success with this funding initiative – a rare achievement; last year the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education supported their study, Leading Professors: academic professorial leadership as perceived by ‘the led’. Due to finish at the end of March, this very successful project received media attention with a report in the Times Higher Education attracting over 10,000 hits on its website. The latest project to be funded will present the ‘other side of the coin’ by focusing on the perspective of professors themselves on what their roles involve and how they approach the job of providing academic leadership.
