Dr Sue Pearson and Sue Haines attended two Alumni events in Athens and Nicosia on 16 and 17 June.  These events had been arranged with the Leeds University Business School with two distinct strands for each school, comprising a presentation or short lecture/activity and the opportunity for former students to catch up with staff and each other, and to meet with potential University of Leeds applicants.
The School of Education lecture focussed on the experiences of international students studying in the UK  - the planning, preparation and excitement before coming onto a course, and looking at an area that is too often forgotten, the preparation for returning home. In groups, the students reflected on their experiences of the readjustments involved including the forms and sources of support . Their feedback will be used to inform our practices with future students.
We hope that this will be the beginning of a stronger network of School of Education Alumni in Greece and Cyprus.  The alumni we met have offered to correspond with prospective students considering the School of Education and those due to join us in September. If you are from Greeece or Cyprus and want to contact an ex-student, please contact Sue Haines who will facilitate this.
