Dr Ruth Swanwick is awarded a British Academy Research Fellowship
Dr Ruth Swanwick has been awarded a one-year fellowship by the British Academy to develop her research in deafness, language and learning. This prestigious award affords Ruth the opportunity to consolidate her research contribution to the international field on deaf children’s multilinguality and multimodality. An additional benefit of the award is that it will enable the school to make an new appointment of a lecturer to lead the deaf education program and enhance the deaf education team and skills at Leeds.
Ruth said; ‘I am delighted with the outcome which follows several years of seeking funding to develop this work. The recognition of the importance of this work by the British Academy means a lot to me personally but also reflects so positively on the department as a key player in this field in the UK’.
