Training for SENCOs

From September, all newly appointed Special Educational Needs Coordinators will be required to undertake training leading to the National Award in SEN Coordination, the standards for which have been set out by the TDA. The Inclusive Education team here at the School of Education, in collaboration with Education Leeds and Wakefield LA, bid to be one of the nominated providers of this training. The award is equivalent to a Post Graduate Certificate.

This bid has been successful and the TDA will provide full funding for the course plus 10 days cover per participant. In 09/10, we have been awarded 20 places and in each of the next three years 30 places. The teaching will start early in September 2009.

Congratulations to the Inclusive Education team but especially to Sue Pearson who led the bid and negotiations with Education Leeds and Wakefield LA.
