Omani Teachers’ perceptions of the impact of technology on their teacher cognitions and instructional practices.

Submission date not yet agreed.

The study will attempt to explore Omani teachers’ relationship with technology. It will attempt to explore the impact of technology integration on teachers’ cognitions and instructional practices and the contextual factors that might influence the impact/integration of technology. The study will hopefully explore how technology integration influences Omani teachers’ cognitions and instructional practices. The way teachers interact with technology and how the previous experiences as learners impact their technology use will be investigated through teachers’ own stories of their relationship with technology. Finally, how teachers perceive the influence of technology as impacting their instructional practices and what factors contributing will also be explored through a series of methods like autobiographical accounts, interviews, classroom observations and stimulated recall interviews.

I graduated from Sultan Qaboos University, Oman and worked as an English language teacher, senior teacher and currently as an English Language Supervisors at the Ministry of education. I have been very interested in ICT and therefore I did my MA at the university of Leeds in ICT in Education. I decided to continue working in the field of using technology in education because it is my area of interest.

What motivated me to undertake PhD study?

I have plans to teach ICT at a university level and to do this competently, I thought that a PhD would be my best choice.

What makes me passionate about my subject?

I am very interested in this area and have given various talks about it in international conferences. I have also published some papers about the use of ICT in education. It is my passion.

What are my plans once I have completed my PhD?

Teach ICT at a well-known university.
