Interests

Teaching

I manage the MA ICT and Education and teach modules related to ICT and e-learning. My background includes linguistics and English language teaching so I also teach a module on Language Learning and Teaching with ICT.

Research

Within the general field of ICT in education my specialist research area is e-learning especially computer-mediated communication (CMC) and the pedagogies of e-learning. I am particularly interested in the strategies used by teachers and learners interacting in a CMC environment and roles, relationships and groups in CMC. I am also interested in academic literacy and discourse, in particular the ways in which the teaching/learning of these skills may be supported through ICT and CMC. Other interests include CMC and the WWW as tools for research and young people's use of ICT.
