About me

I am a Specialist in Oral Surgery working in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Bradford Teaching Hospitals.

I have been involved with trainees in a teaching and mentoring capacity for several years and felt that a formal understanding and qualification in Education would be of great benefit.

The programme

The modular study days were very useful and very informative. Learning in a multi-disciplinary course was also very refreshing.

I thoroughly enjoyed my course. I found it informative, thought provoking and engaging. It broadened my attitude to training and teaching and also made me look at all aspects of life with a new approach.

All staff on the course were very helpful but I must mention Helen Bradbury the course director who was also my supervisor. She gave me excellent support and encouragement and has been a remarkable influence in my life.

Without her persuasion and gentle persistence I would not have achieved this degree.

Since graduating

I now teach much more confidently and my teaching style is more interactive and innovative. I do it with enjoyment rather than dread and speaking to an audience is not intimidating like it was before. Especially clinical skills teaching which is vital in surgery and giving feedback is much better now.

To anyone thinking about applying to the programme, I'd say do it - it will revolutionise the way you teach and how you interact with people.
