PGCE Secondary

Teaching is not just about the use of techniques - even in the most practical situation judgment is required. That's why the Secondary PGCE aims to encourage critical thinking as well as helping trainee teachers acquire essential skills, for use in both the classroom and the broader secondary school environment.
During the Secondary PGCE we hope to identify and examine assumptions, to encourage questioning and to examine competing ideas. Students will be helped to develop their capacity for independent and professional judgement and will acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to support their entry into the teaching profession.
Our teaching has been highly rated by Ofsted and all our staff have extensive first-hand experience of the secondary curriculum. Many tutors are actively engaged in educational research and this helps us to provide the most professional and up-to-date training available.
On successful completion of the Secondary PGCE you will receive a Postgraduate Certificate in Education together with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). This will provide the basis on which you will build during your induction year as a Newly Qualified Teacher (NQT) and in your future career.
