PGCE Primary
The Programme
The PGCE Primary course is one of the largest in the north of England, recruiting high-quality graduate students from across the country.
The School of Education has a talented and dedicated team of tutors with experience and expertise across the Primary curriculum, and specialised teaching provision and resources for all subjects of the National Curriculum. We have close and productive partnerships with primary schools in eight Local Authorities in the surrounding region.
We are committed to ensuring that your training prepares you for a rapidly changing, challenging and highly satisfying profession and is of the highest standard.
The vast majority of our trainees complete the course successfully and are in great demand by local schools and those further afield.
Who is the course for?
This PGCE course is essential for anyone who wants to teach the full Primary curriculum across the 5-11 age range. It provides excellent professional preparation for a successful career in teaching.
The programme also offers an excellent first step towards continuous professional development, and there are opportunities to progress to higher degrees such as the School's MA Teaching course, which is specifically designed for new teachers.
