The University of Leeds is one of the strongest centres in the world for science education and as such our specialist Masters programme has been designed to meet the needs of professionals working at all levels in the subject.
This contemporary course covers learning and teaching science, curriculum, assessment, professional development and research issues in both primary and secondary school environments. It also addresses the challenges faced by teachers, teacher-educators and advisors/inspectors during everyday practice in schools.
On completion of the programme you will have an in-depth understanding of the policies, practices and research at the forefront of the discipline, in both domestic and international contexts.
Who is the course for?
If you work in Science Education as a teacher, inspector, researcher, administrator or materials writer, or if you work in another related professional or practitioner role in the field, then this MA programme is for you.
The course is strongly linked with research and is an excellent first step towards doctoral study.
It is particularly suited to international applicants, as our strong global reputation regularly attracts students from countries including Bangladesh, Brunei, Cyprus, the Gambia, Greece, Oman, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
Take a look at the CSSME for more information about our leading international centre in the field of science and mathematics education.
