This course considers the principles, policies and practices in the inclusive education of learners with special educational needs (SEN) and draws upon current legislation, governmental and inspection reports and national/international research evidence.

The programme addresses special educational needs for a wide range of age groups and covers issues such as policy and legislation, assessment and intervention, inter-agency working, partnerships with parents and pupil participation.

The content of the modules reflects the research interests of the Inclusive Education team whose expertise is nationally and internationally recognised.

On successful completion of the programme you will have specialist knowledge of current concepts, information and techniques, as well as mastery in the exercise of generic and subject-specific intellectual abilities.

Who is the course for?

The programme is designed and structured to meet the professional development needs of teachers and associated professionals working both in mainstream and more specialised contexts, and attracts both UK-based and international students.

It is linked to the Postgraduate Certificate in Developmental Disorders and the Postgraduate Certificate in Co-ordinating Inclusive Provision so that students who successfully complete these can progress on to the MA(SEN).

50 Years of Inclusive Education

Normally, applicants will have three years' teaching experience but other applications will be considered.
