This well-established programme provides teachers, advisors and teacher educators with the opportunity to develop further their knowledge of TESOL and to specialise in the teaching of English to school-aged young learners (TEYL).
The course aims to provide professionals in this fast-growing field with the knowledge and skills needed to develop better practice, by reviewing current theoretical concepts and applying them to the evaluation and development of classroom activities, teaching materials and curricula used for TEYL.
On completion of the course you will have a more in-depth understanding of how children learn languages, and the most appropriate approaches and methods for teaching children English.
Who is the course for?
The programme is designed for those involved in the teaching of English as a foreign language to school-aged children. If you do not yet have the necessary teaching experience for this specialist MA, however, but are very interested in teaching English to young learners in the future, you might wish to consider the pre-experience MA TESOL Studies which offers a specialist module in TEYL as part of the programme.
Take a look at the CLER for more information about our research centre in the field of language education.
