This new MA TESOL programme will run in conjunction with Majan College, Oman from June 2007.

The MA has been approved by the Ministry of Higher Education and is open to anyone in the Gulf area who has completed a relevant undergraduate degree.

Who is it aimed at?

The MA in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) is for experienced TESOL professionals such as teachers, teacher trainers, language school directors, curriculum developers, inspectors, lecturers and materials writers.

It aims to offer graduates the opportunity to extend their academic knowledge and skills, as well as offering a route towards PhD study at a later date.

What will the course be like?

The course will be delivered part-time over two years at Majan College, Oman, by University of Leeds staff (subject to student numbers of 30 or more).

It will include four taught modules, three of which are compulsory (Contexts and Approaches, Methodology and Grammar & Lexis) and a 12,000-word dissertation on a topic of the student's choice.

Module 4 options are as follows;

Support for assignments and dissertations will be provided by tutors when they are in Oman and also by e-mail. After the initial two years students will have a further two years for successful completion of the degree.
