Students taking this programme may be from anywhere in China. They are all experienced Chinese TESOL professionals such as teachers, teacher trainers, language school directors, curriculum developers, researchers, lecturers and materials writers.

The programme lasts for one year, and runs full time from October to September. During this period all participants need to be able to spend most of their time on the campus at Guangdong Foreign Studies University in Guangzhou (GDFSU) where all teaching is held.

In order to ensure that the programme is as relevant to the Chinese TESOL context as possible, the MA programme is taught by experienced language education professionals from both China and Britain. Staff from the School of Education at the University of Leeds, and the Faculty of English Language and Culture at GDFSU, teach two modules each, and share the teaching of research methods and supervision of the final critical study.

During your period of study you will be registered as a full time student at Leeds, and so have access to all Leeds library online academic resources, as well as those available in the National Centre for Linguistics and Applied Linguistics research at GDFSU.

On successful completion of this programme you will receive a MA TESOL (China) degree from the University of Leeds, which will be presented at a graduation ceremony held in Guangzhou in March of the year following your studies. For further details and application forms please contact:
