This research is based on an analysis of the performance of students who participated in the first cycle of World Class Tests when they were 'live' in 2001-2. The main thrust of the investigation is to attempt to discern features of the successful students at both ages, 9 and 13, that might suggest what it means to be gifted and talented in mathematics.
