Collaborative Link Sites

CCHRE has established a two-way link with the following organisations and Centres:
  • DfES
    An official government information and resources site specific to citizenship education.
  • Save the Children UK
    A resource and information site, addressing issues that are of concern to those working with children and young people including children's rights.
  • Time for Citizenship
    A resource site developed by teachers and police officers, aimed at primary schools for teaching citizenship.
  • Operation Black Vote (OBV)
    An information site, seeking to strengthen the political voice of African, Asian, Caribbean and other ethnic minorities through policy, research and networking.
  • Leeds Development Education Centre (DEC)
    An information and resource site, seeking to raise awareness of international development issues amongst young people and adults in the UK. Leeds DEC promotes international development through resources provision, training, projects, commissions, publications and by developing regional strategy.
  • Institute for citizenship
    An information and resource site for professionals outlining citizenship education projects and providing resource materials for teaching citizenship education.
  • Council For Education in World Citizenship (CEWC)
    The Council for Education in World Citizenship was founded in 1939 as an independent organisation dedicated to education for international understanding, for young people of all ages. Its mission is to develop and promote active citizenship involving students, teachers and other citizens in taking responsibility for our future.
  • Jean Monnet European Centre of Excellence (University of Leeds)
    The Centres of Excellence initiative is one of four which comprise the European Commission's Jean Monnet Project 'European Integration in University Studies. The Jean Monnet Project targets disciplines in which European Union developments are an increasingly important part of the subject studied, such as Community law, European economic integration, European political integration, and the history of the European construction process'.
  • The European Human Rights Centre
    The European Human Rights Centre (EHRC) represents over 100 non-governmental and other not-for-profit organisations interested in the promotion of Human Rights throughout Europe and beyond. The purpose of the Centre is to contribute to the general advancement of the human rights research by promoting cooperation in Europe between organisation and goverment officials, and by collaborating with similar associations throughout the world.

  • Ireland in Schools (IiS)
    Ireland in Schools is a national network of volunteers which provides free teaching and learning resources for primary and secondary schools in Britain.

    An official government information site, covering the inspection of schools on citizenship.

Sites for Children and Young People

The following sites have been set up by (or for) young people and may be of interest:
  • UK online
    An information site about the work of the government.
  • The Rights Site
    A UNICEF information site aimed at young people to promote their rights.
  • Youth Information
    An information site aimed at young people, addressing many aspects of everyday life from education, health, employment and training, to family and relationships. The site also includes justice and equality information for young people.
  • Young Gov
    An information and participation site aimed at 11 to 16 year olds, written by young people. It highlights issues affecting young people and provides tips and general information.
