TESOL Short Specialist Courses
Motivating Language Learners: The Best of Contemporary Theory and Practice
This short course is designed both for postgraduate students working in the area of language learner motivation, and for practising teachers concerned with the daily reality of motivating language learners. The course will introduce participants to recent theoretical developments in the field, focusing in particular on how it is influenced by socio-cultural context and evolves over time, and what this implies for classroom teaching. At the same time, the course will present examples of good practice, drawn from modern language teaching in the UK and English language education in international settings, and to consider how these may impact on theory.
