TESOL Short Specialist Courses
Bringing TESOL Curriculum Change into the Classroom
The Course
This course will interest those who are responsible for planning the implementation of TESOL change at institutional or local level, or for leading or teaching teachers at a time of change, and also postgraduate students working in the area of educational change.
TESOL curriculum change documents frequently emphasise the behavioural changes that teachers must make to improve classroom language learning. Using participants’ own curriculum documents wherever possible, we will look at what their rhetoric implies for teachers’ classroom roles and behaviour, and identify some factors within the macro and micro change implementation context that may affect teachers’ responses to the change process positively or negatively. We will consider how these factors might be managed in contextually appropriate ways, that may help at least some curriculum change goals to become a genuine part of classroom reality.
