Lindy Woodrow, University of Sydney

Room: BT SR 1.16
Time: 12:30 - 2:00 p.m

Additional Information

This talk is based on a research project in progress that investigates emotional variables of  confidence and anxiety as reported by College English students in China.  A questionnaire and a writing task were given to 738 college English students. The questionnaire focussed on writing confidence and apprehension. Open ended questions addressed issues of parental pressure and the perceived role of English in the participant’s future lives. The presentation will first describe EFL in China and address the theoretical notions of language learning anxiety and self-confidence. Then the research project will be described and the emerging results will be presented.
